Description of Works
-
Due to working around the live JUHI (Sydney Airport Fuel Lines) a delicate demolition technique was required to enable the construction of the new Sydney International Airport Departure wing.
-
This involved saw-cutting 400mm thick apron slabs into manageable pieces and lifting them onto trucks for disposal, in lieu of the conventional hammering technique normally used. Ford civil also installed all the sheet piling for the pile caps and service trenches as the site was in sand.
-
The deeper excavations (Sewer Pump Out Tanks / Grease Arrestors, Services Trenches) required major dewatering (Including water treatment) due to the high water table levels. Ford Civil managed to complete all works in accordance with Bovis Lend Lease’s tight construction programme.
