DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

Ford Civil were engaged by RP Infrastructure and Sydney Metro Airports to undertake airside pavement upgrades of the existing airfield pavements at Bankstown Airport. As part of the pre-construction works for each stage, GPS survey needed to be undertaken followed by NDD sucker truck excavation to positively locate the services required. Additionally, the GPS coordinates of the airfield lighting were recorded both before and after construction works.
Across various stages, the main pavement upgrade works encompass approximately 15,000m2 of mill and re-sheet of the asphalt surface on flexible pavements and 18,000m2 of full depth heavily bound pavement construction on flexible pavements. Along with pavement upgrades includes height adjustments of the inground services including drainage pits and surface drains to match the final pavement design level.
