DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

Ford Civil delivered the Castlereagh Street Cycleway and Public Domain Upgrade project for the City of Sydney. This initiative is part of City of Sydney’s Cycling Strategy Action Plan (2018-2030), which aims to make bicycle transport easier and safer, making it an attractive and feasible option for more people.
The project developed and provided a direct route between Circular Quay and Central Station, whilst also connecting existing cycleways along Hay and Liverpool Street, King Street and Darling Harbour. Along with the delivery of new bi-directional cycleways, the Castlereagh Street enhancement also provides upgraded signalised intersections, complete mill and re-sheet of existing traffic lanes, upgraded public domain with extended footpath. Upgraded streetscape including planting and street furniture, and new smart poles for improved street lighting. The Plan has been implemented in other areas of the LGA which has provided an enhanced experience for cyclists and other members of the public.
